At St Simon's Jacobite Syrian Orthodox Church, we believe that faith is lived in community. Our outreach and education programs reflect our commitment to nurturing spiritual growth in all ages and extending Christ's love to those in need.
Through religious education, pastoral care, and community support, we strive to build up the Body of Christ and serve as a beacon of hope in Gloucester.
"Bear one another's burdens, and so fulfill the law of Christ."
Our Sunday School program provides children and youth with a strong foundation in the Orthodox faith, teaching them the Scriptures, Church traditions, prayers, and the rich heritage of the Jacobite Syrian Orthodox Church.
Classes are held every Sunday following the Divine Liturgy. Our dedicated teachers use age-appropriate materials to make learning engaging and meaningful, helping young people develop a personal relationship with Christ.
We offer Bible study groups, theological instruction, and catechesis for adults seeking to deepen their understanding of the Orthodox faith. Classes are available for those preparing for sacraments and for lifelong learners.
For those interested in joining the Orthodox Church, we provide comprehensive instruction in Christian doctrine, the sacraments, and the life of the Church. Please contact our clergy to begin your journey.
Our clergy and parish community are committed to providing spiritual support and practical assistance to all who need it.
We visit church members who are hospitalized, homebound, or in care facilities, bringing them Holy Communion and offering prayer and comfort. If you or a loved one needs a visit, please contact us.
Our clergy are available for confidential pastoral counseling, spiritual direction, and confession. Whether facing a crisis or seeking guidance in your spiritual journey, we are here to help.
We provide support to families during times of loss, including funeral arrangements according to Orthodox tradition, memorial services, and ongoing pastoral care for the bereaved.
We seek to serve the broader Gloucester community through charitable work, supporting local initiatives, and being a presence of Christ's love to all our neighbors.
From Sunday School to fellowship gatherings, our parish family shares faith, learning, and service together.
